Arc XLI: Lita's Fanclub | Short XLVIII: Bliss |
In Hell, The Devil is having a meeting with an unseen relatively recent arrival. He is offering the position of Sin of Lust, as the previous holder of the title has disappeared. The unseen party is not interested, instead he wishes to hunt down his grandmother. The Devil offers to help the person, who's revealed to be Drip. Drip is in his mortal form, this being when he was first sent to Hell.
As part of his punishment, Drip has been raped thousands of times in the Necropolis, and remains bitter about the experience. The Devil offers him a position that will make him powerful, but Drip isn't interested until The Devil throws his favorite scarf into the deal, having long since lost it. The scarf, having been given to him by his mom, seals the deal. When the Devil brings up that Drip killed his mom, Drip angrily denies it, since he was an infant at the time.
Drip accompanies the Devil to a past event in his life, when he was a kid climbing a tree with his friend Alure. Drip is timid and clearly has a bad relationship with his grandmother. Alure is optimistic and more willing to take risks. Some neighboring kids start bullying Drip, yelling up at him that he killed his mother. Next, the Devil reminds Drip that later that day, his grandmother sexually molested him for the first time.
The devil then reminds Drip one time he and Alure found a cabin near Miller Hill and he practiced some of the same sexual techniques on Alure that his grandmother made him perform on her, an experience that traumatized Alure. Drip is angry and saddened being reminded of this as the Devil delights in his discomfort, continuing with his tour of Drip's life. During these flashbacks, Drip's appearance begins to take on a more and more haggard look.
Next Drip is reminded of his history of sneaking into his neighbor's houses and going through their underwear drawers, sexually gratifying himself. At this point, the Devil points out that he's going to ask Drip to kill someone. Going back to the flashback, one time he was caught by his neighbor Miss Abbagale. Drip is embarrassed to be reminded, especially when she makes the assumption that Drip was gay. Furious at this and the Devil's amusement at his embarrassment, the flashback moves to middle school where he runs into Alure again. He's been sent to the principal's office for peeking in on the girl's locker room.
The Devil lets Drip know he wants him to kill Alure. Drip angrily denounces this, but is silenced when the Devil offers to let him have sex with her first. Alure in the flashback then introduces young Drip to her boyfriend Daren. Drip is crestfallen that she's with another boy. During his visit to the principals office, his grandmother tries to excuse his behavior and dismisses the rumors about Drip killing his parents going around the school. The principal is clearly disturbed by his grandmother's manner.
He then takes them to a new house, one with which Drip's not familiar. The Devil tells him to kill the two people inside. He seems to believe this is Alure's house and breaks in to kill the two. He snatches a wolf man who he assumes is Daren, beating and killing him brutally. He then rapes and murders the man's wife when she sees the attack, delighting in the mayhem. By this point, Drip's appearance is now fully his sin form. He goes into a bedroom to discover a baby, and to his horror, he suddenly recognizes the child as himself. He realizes he's just murdered his own parents, thus making the claims against him doing so ultimately true.
Sometime later, during "present day" events after Drip has been turned into Kane's deformed minion, The Devil catches up with him in his pit, saying he never fully kept his part of the deal, offering to give Drip his mother's scarf. By this point Drip is completely broken and turns down the scarf, saying he doesn't deserve it. The Devil leaves with a malicious smile on his face.
