Arc XL: What's Pissing Off Dalton Arc XLII: How To Make A Monster

Lita is undergoing combat training with Sir Eric in his swamp, who is teaching her swordsmanship and basic martial arts, furthering her combat skill she started in life. She's spirited but sloppy in her techniques, and Eric angrily berates her fighting prowess. Lita tries to defend herself by saying Eric has more experience and that she was able to fight off various henchmen of Vince just fine. Eric counters that fighting angrily works fine when dealing with unpowered underlings but would put her at a disadvantage against Sins and other powerful demonic forces. After defeating her in combat, he dismisses her, done training her for the day.

Lita walks home dejected, being secretly watched by Cliff, when Farrago appears, following Lita home and annoying her with her sunny disposition and desires to help. Lita slams the door on Farrago, abruptly ending the discussion.

The next day, Lita finds Cliff sleeping outside her home. He accompanies her to meet with Sir Eric, upset that she's wanting to return to a person who he sees as a rival, but happy when given the opportunity to fight Eric. Eric very easily bests Cliff, making an example of Cliff's feral, aggressive fighting style to show Lita how it leaves him at a disadvantage against an experienced fighter. Eric tries to offer to train Cliff too, but Cliff, insulted from Eric's comments and angry at looking bad in front of Lita angrily leaves in a huff. Lita continues her training.

During swordplay, Eric brings up Lita's father, which angers her. She admits that she still seeks revenge even though Drip got the better of her. Eric attacks her while she's distracted with fury, busting her nose. He reiterates how focusing on revenge leads her vulnerable, and admits that he previously faced Drip and lost. Upset remembering his failure to defeat the Sin, he sends her away for the day.

Walking home, Farrago again catches up to Lita. She offers to fix her bleeding nose, and when Lita is distracted at her home, she kisses her, healing her wounds. Lita is freaked out and asks Farrago to leave, but Farrago tries to find out why Lita has a problem with her. Lita offers to let her know, if she lets Lita tie her up first. Once bound, Farrago asks how she can help Lita. Lita in turn dismisses Farrago's offers, not wanting any heavenly help and dismissing the angel's interests in her father. When Farrago broaches the idea that Drip hurt Lita, she instantly becomes cold and makes Farrago leave. Once alone, Lita, breaks down crying.

Cliff, who has been spying on Lita, goes to the cave that hosting the refugees he and the other rescued from Vince's Coliseum. One of the sex slaves offers to have sex with him, but he insists that he gets to call her Lita.

Day 3: Lita finds Cliff sleeping outside her hut again, and suggests he can find other people to see. When he hints at his recent sexual dalliance, she suggests he goes to see them as she goes off to see Eric. Cliff is crestfallen to be friend-zoned again. At Eric's swamp, he again criticizes her fighting style. When she asks why they're fighting with swords when the most dangerous Hellbeasts can beat a swordsmen, Eric insists the real meaning of the training is to teach her control.

When she's at his mercy, Eric grabs her and threatens to decapitate her, asking her what she really wants to get out of the training. Lita says that while Eric can't beat Drip, he must think that Lita can. This gives Eric pause, and he releases her. He insists that she take up her sword, and they continue their training so she can defeat her father. They have an aggressive fight, with Eric accusing Lita of having guilt which in turn feeds her rage to hurt her father. He warns that they won't help her in combat and suggests she use her rage only as a catalyst to action, but never as the driving force of her actions.

When Lita insists she needs her anger, Eric sees that she's addicted to it. Lita angrily snaps at him and her effortlessly defeats her again. He tells her to cut off what's feeding her rage, or she'll never defeat her father.

Lita is racing home, trying to avoid Farrago, but the angel is waiting for her anyway. Lita is still angry with her from their last encounter, but Farrago is trying to build on their brief period of rapport. Lita dismisses Farrago's peace offering attempts, but offers to let Farrago in if she submits to being bound again. Farrago reluctantly agrees, and Lita admits while tying Farrago up that she understands why her dad liked the feelings of control over others. They have an uncomfortable discussion about the sexual relationship between Lita and her father, and how he abused her mother. Lita accuses Farrago of wanting to have sex with her, saying this is why the angel has been stalking her. Farrago denies this, and Lita begins to molest Farrago. Farrago tells her she's not her father, and Lita stops. She suddenly apologizes and lets Farrago leave.

Day 4: Lita rushes to meet Eric, telling him she's ready to deal with her guilt. Eric is happy and takes her out to a bar to celebrate her coming to terms with her problems, and Cliff angrily fumes while hidden, watching the two bond with each other.

Lita drunkenly stumbles home, and Farrago finds her lying on the ground outside her hut. After helping her inside, Farrago revives her with a kiss, instantly sobering her up. Farrago forgives Lita for her earlier actions, and leaves after an unexpected visiting comes: Lita's mother.

Lita breaks down in tears as her mother welcomes her, telling her it wasn't her fault she led Drip to her mother. Her mother says the only time she was disappointed in Lita was when she killed herself. Lita and her mother patch things up and Lita's eyes are finally opened.

Day 5: Lita exits her house in a chipper mood and has a spirited battle. No longer distracted by her anger, she fights him to a stalemate, and when neither yields, they share a passionate kiss. Farrago again appears afterward, and this time she turns the tables and ties Lita up. Farrago's happy that Lita is doing better and had a nice talk with her mother, and Lita asks about Farrago's interests in girl.

Farrago tries to deny it at first, but Lita presses the issue and Farrago admits her relationship with Reckonin hasn't been going well, and slowly let's it slip that she's been checking out Central. They make love, and Farrago tries to convince Lita to retry life again, but Lita insists she has to help Jack liberate the rest of Hell first.

In a final Coda, Cliff, who has been seeing the same refugee throughout the story, has violently decapitated her, upset that Lita has been intimate with Eric and Farrago but not him. The others around him are horrified.
